American singer-songwriter Avery posted two videos on her social media accounts warning fans ‘to be careful’ with Ozempic unless prescribed it.
Avery – whose real name is Anna Iannitelli – recently shared a video to Instagram, where she claimed she had been diagnosed with osteoporosis after allegedly taking Ozempic for a year.
Ozempic comes in the form of a weekly injection that helps lower blood sugar levels in your body by assisting the pancreas in producing more insulin, and It was approved in the US back in 2017 for use in adults with type 2 diabetes.
According to UC Davis Health – the University of California‘s medical center – Ozempic isn’t approved for weight loss, but a drug under the name Wegovy is approved that contains a greater dose of semaglutide – which Ozempic and Wegovy both cover.

According to Diabetes UK, adults with type 2 diabetes can take Ozempic, with guidelines from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommend it be prescribed if ‘using three medications have not been effective’ or ‘you have not been able to take the medications’.
In her first social media post, Avery said that she had been for a checkup as she’d ‘been off of Ozempic for two months now’ and wanted to see if her body was in ‘better condition’.
However, she says she’s been left ‘in shock’ after being told she has osteoporosis, which, according to the Mayo Clinic, can causes bones to ‘become weak and brittle — so brittle that a fall or even mild stresses such as bending over or coughing can cause a break’.
Adding that she ‘wasn’t expecting this’, she says: “I guess Ozempic can cause bone density loss, and I didn’t think that that would happen to me, because I was only on it for a year, but I have significant bone loss.
“I have osteoporosis and osteopenias that I don’t know. There’s, like, several of them that I have, and I just wasn’t… I just wasn’t, like, expecting… I wasn’t expecting that.”
She wrote in her description that she didn’t get it prescribed by a doctor, claiming it is ‘very easy to get now days’, as well as adding that she has an eating disorder.
“I made a mistake. I take responsibility for my actions. Please learn from mine.” she said, adding she will ‘be going on medication and starting a treatment plan’.
“Please please please be careful with Ozempic if you are not someone that needs to take it.” Avery continued.
In a follow-up video, she clarified that she wasn’t attempting to ‘demonize’ Ozempic and she wanted ‘to make people aware of what can happen’ when you use it unprescribed.
A spokesperson for Novo Nordisk, the company that develops Ozempic, told UNILAD: “Novo Nordisk does not condone, suggest, or encourage misuse of any of our medicines outside of their approved indications. Ozempic (semaglutide injection) is not licensed for the treatment of weight loss.

“We understand the health challenges this individual has faced and the safety and wellbeing of patients taking our medicines is our top priority.
“We strongly recommend that all patients stay in close contact with their healthcare professional for proper diagnosis, ongoing guidance, and careful monitoring.”
They continued: “It is important to note that Ozempic (semaglutide injection) is a prescription-only medicine, meaning that it must be prescribed by a healthcare professional under strict supervision.
“Patients must make any decisions about treatment together with their healthcare professional so that their doctor can assess whether it is appropriate to prescribe the medicine or not, based on their assessment of the patient’s individual medical profile.
“Accessing prescription-only medicines without a valid prescription or without the care of a healthcare professional can pose a direct danger to health.”

A mom-to-be has been slammed online for supposedly ‘not caring’ about potential side effects of taking Ozempic while breastfeeding.
The drug has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for people with Type 2 diabetes, though it has been used by individuals hoping to lose weight – despite it not being approved by the FDA for weight loss.
Ozempic contains a small amount of semaglutide, which can make people feel full for much longer by slowing down the passage of food through the stomach and intestines.
However, problems can arise if the rare process of ‘ileus’ takes place – when the intestines become blocked – leading to the FDA to add ‘ileus’ to Ozempic’s labelling as a possible adverse side effect.
Just over the past few months, there have been a few cases of people being negatively affected after taking the drug, such as one woman alleging she would suffer diarrhoea forever after ‘Ozempic caused life-threatening bowel injury’, while another case ended with one woman tragically losing her life while attempting to lose weight for her daughter’s wedding.
Linda Andrade, an American housewife married to a millionaire in Dubai, took to TikTok recently to reveal that she’s gained over 40 pounds in the past few months.
The content creator, who is also known as ‘The Original Dubai Housewife’, admitted in a viral TikTok how she has been feeling about her weight gain.

“Nobody warned me, and I definitely didn’t sign up for this,” the mom-to-be, who is nine months pregnant, said.
As an overlay, the TikToker showcased her lavish lifestyle living in the Middle East as she further explained her situation.
While Linda showcased clips of herself dining at Dubai’s fanciest restaurants and getting pampered at a spa, she says: “This is a huge sacrifice to me. I love my body and I hate gaining weight.”
Linda then goes on to say that she plans on using Ozempic injections after she gives birth – captioning the video ‘ozempic baby’.
However, many of the commenters have slammed Linda for allegedly ‘not caring’ about the potential side effects of taking the drug while breastfeeding.
“She cares more about Ozempic than her baby,” one person commented.
A second added: “Did you seriously think you’d stay thin during pregnancy lol? Is that fr your only concern?”
While a third remarked: “I gained 45 lbs, but lost 20 of it by the 6 week check up. I’m 9 months pp now and only have 3 lbs left to lose. it comes off!”

According to Ozempic, it is currently ‘not known if Ozempic passes into breastmilk’, but they urge people ‘not to use Ozempic if you are breastfeeding’.
The Mayo Clinic also adds: “There are no adequate studies in women for determining infant risk when using this medication during breastfeeding.
“Weigh the potential benefits against the potential risks before taking this medication while breastfeeding.
“Always consult your doctor prior to use.”
UNILAD has reached out to Linda Andrade for comment.

Jamie Lee Curtis has spoken out about the ‘catastrophe’ of the California wildfires during an appearance on Jimmy Fallon’s show.
With wildfires continuing to blaze through Los Angeles, California – reported as having taken the lives of at least five people and destroyed over 1,000 structures – Freaky Friday actor Jamie Lee Curtis has shared advice and urged people to offer support in any way they can.
Curtis took to Instagram to speak out about the devastation being caused by the wildfires in a post shared yesterday (January 8).
She wrote: “My community and possibly my home is on fire. My family is safe. Many of my friends will lose their homes. Many other communities as well. There are so many conflicting reports. With all the technology there seems to be very little information. PLEASE POST FACTS! IT WILL HELP THOSE WONDERING!
“It is a terrifying situation and I’m grateful to the firefighters and all of the good Samaritans who are helping people get out of the way of the blaze. Neighbors have taken care of neighbors. We ALL take everything for granted because we are all living our lives but when it hits your community, it’s particularly shocking. Life on life’s terms. If ever there was need for the use of the phrase MY HAND IN YOURS, it is right now. Take care of each other. Stay out of the way and let the firefighters do their work. Pray if you believe in it and even if you don’t, pray for those who do.”
The actor appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon later that day, with the episode seeing Curtis admit she felt like she was ‘literally about to cry’ shortly after sitting down to chat with the host.

While noting she felt like crying ‘mostly because of [receiving a] beautiful welcome’, Curtis continued: “As you know, where I live is on fire right now. Literally, the entire city of the Pacific Palisades is burning.”
The actor explained she found out about the devastation that was occurring while on a plane flying over to California, receiving texts informing her what was happening.
She said: “It’s f**king gnarly, you guys. It’s a catastrophe in Southern California. Obviously there has been horrific fires in many places. This is literally where I live. Everything. The market I shop in, the schools my kids go to, friends.”
Curtis revealed ‘many, many, many’ of her friends have ‘lost their homes,’ emphasizing’ it’s a really awful situation’ before urging people to help where they can.

She resolved: “I am obviously going to go home first thing tomorrow and be with my family and try to help my friends, but it is – just so I can tell you, if you know anybody on the West Coast or not, the American Red Cross, support them. They will come in and help people. Do anything you can, anything in your community to help people. Whether you need it or not now, you will need it.
“Give blood, donate, animal shelters.
“And remember, since I’m on the middle of a very big television show, for anybody living anywhere, have an emergency kit in your house. I’m an American Red Cross ambassador – have an emergency kit with prescription glasses, medicines, dog food, baby formula, all the things you need if you need to flee.”
In another updated shared to Instagram, Curtis said: “Our home is safe. So many others have lost everything. Help where you can.”

The father of the man who attacked several people in Sydney last weekend has spoken out.
On Saturday (April 13), Joel Cauchi entered Westfield shopping mall at Bondi Junction, Sydney, wielding a knife.
He proceeded to stab 18 innocent people, killing six of them.
Those who were murdered by Couchi have since been named as Dawn Singleton, 25, Jade Young, 47, Pikria Darchia, 55, Yixuan Cheng, believed to be in her 20s, security guard Faraz Tahir, 30, and 38-year-old Ashlee Good.
Cauchi was also killed in the ordeal and was shot dead by a police officer.

While there was initially no clear motive for Cauchi’s attack, police now believe he’d been targeting women.
“It’s obvious to me, it’s obvious to detectives that seems to be an area of interest that the offender focused on women and avoided the men,” New South Wales Police Commissioner Karen Webb told ABC News Breakfast.
“We don’t know what was operating in the mind of the offender and that’s why it’s important now that detectives spend so much time interviewing those who know him, were around him, close to him.
“So we can get some insight into what he might have been thinking.”
Five of Cauchi’s six victims were women.
The 40-year-old’s father, Andrew Cauchi, has since weighed in on his son’s apparent motive.
The below video contains security camera footage from the mall attack which some viewers may find upsetting:
Speaking to reporters at his home, Andrew hailed Cauchi as ‘a very sick boy’.
“To you he’s a monster, to me he’s a very sick boy,” he told reporters while choking up. “Believe me, he was a very sick boy.”
Meanwhile, Cauchi’s mother, Michele Cauchi, said her ‘heart goes out to the people our son has hurt’.
She continued: “If he was in his right mind, he’d be absolutely devastated at what he’s done.”
When asked why he might have targeted women, Andrew said: “He wanted a girlfriend. He’s got no social skills, and he was frustrated out of his brain.”
Tearing up on camera, Andrew said of Joel’s poor mental health: “I became his servant. I did everything because I loved that boy.”
Asked if anyone had ‘let Joel down’, Andrew responded: “He let himself down.”

Mr and Mrs Cauchi contacted police on Saturday when they saw CCTV footage of their son on the news.
Cauchi is said to have suffered with schizophrenia and had been living with his parents until five years ago.
He then came off his medication and moved to Brisbane, before returning to his parents’ home with five combat knives.
Andrew said his son had a ‘fascination with knives’ and called police regarding his concerns about the weapons.
Police came, but the bereaved father doesn’t know what they said to him at the time.
While Cauchi was known by police, he hadn’t been charged or prosecuted with anything prior to Saturday’s fatal attack.

Jennifer Garner has opened up about her ‘heart bleeding’ for all her friends affected by the Palisades fire, including one friend tragically passing away.
The fires raging through California have caused devastation across Los Angeles, leaving thousands of structures and homes damaged or destroyed, leading hundreds of thousands to be forced to evacuate and at least 11 confirmed to have been killed.
And one of those who has passed away is reported as being a friend of Jennifer Garner.
Garner and World Central Kitchen’s Chef José Andrés joined MSNBC reporter Katy Tur in the area of the Palisades, surrounded by rubble and debris of buildings and homes lost to the blaze.
The trio were surrounded by buildings ruined by the fires (YouTube/ MSNBC)
The 13 Going on 30 star explained: “I’ve lived in and around the Palisades for 25 years so I think all of us, we want to get our hands into working somehow to be helpful. because of my work with save the children I have a relationship with Chef and I was able to just say, ‘Can I be with you for the day? What can I do to help? Put me to work’.”
Garner revealed her ‘best friend’s house’ used to be ‘down the street’ and had a gong in the front year.
She reflected: “There were so many kids that played in the street and they’d hit the gong at the end of the day and call them home just like neighborhoods across the country. It is not some far away place that you can’t reach. this is the street we run down on 5Ks, this is where the firetruck that – God bless our firefighters – goes on the 4th of July parade.
“This is a neighborhood.”
The actor then acknowledged she actually ‘did lose a friend’ to the fires however, she noted her friend’s passing is still ‘really tender’ for the church community in the area she won’t ‘talk about her yet,’ although she confirmed: “I did lose a friend who did not get out in time.”
Appearing to fight back tears, she continued: “My heart bleeds for my friends. I can think of 100 families and there are 5,000 homes lost. I could write out a list of 100 friends who lost their homes. I feel almost guilty walking through my house. What can I do, how can I help? What do I have to offer with these hands and these walls and the safety I have?”
Garner resolved: “It is an incredible thing to watch World Central Kitchen and Chef José just come in and – ‘We’ve got this handled. We’ve got you’.”
Meanwhile, Chef José emphasized: “The most important thing here is once the cameras are gone, once everybody forgets what’s happening we’ve seen – like in Nashville and North Carolina – what we need to make sure […] is we cannot leave these communities forgotten.
“Everybody has to remember them […] so they can start reconstruction […] We need to make sure the people who lost their jobs, probably for weeks or months, they’re not going to have an income, that we take care of those people.”
