Angelina Jolie tragically admitted that she looked at hiring a hitman to kill her.

The actor, 47, has been open about grappling with mental health issues throughout her life, including in her early career when she was so suicidal that she felt the need to contact a hitman to take her life.

The Lara Croft: Tomb Raider star first attempted suicide at just 19 years old, according to reports. But when she turned 22, she devised a plan to end her own life in a way that her family would be able to better comprehend, or so she thought, as she hired a hitman to murder her.

In an interview with The Face, Jolie explained how guilt was one of the defining factors in considering asking a third party to carry out her death.

She said to the outlet: “They’re not that hard to find in New York.

“As insane as it sounds, I think a lot of people consider suicide when they’re young,” Jolie told them.

She continued: “I was very aware that so many people around me, like my mother, would feel as though they didn’t give enough or do enough if I’d taken my own life.

“So my solution to that was if someone else had taken my life – like in a ‘robbery’ – then it would be murder and it wouldn’t be that anyone would feel they’d let me down.”

The actor made it as far as commissioning the killer contractor and had plans to ‘take out cash over a certain amount of time, so there wasn’t a big chunk in my bank account’ directed to the hitman.

But amazingly, it was the hitman himself who convinced Jolie not to take her own life using the unorthodox method.

She said: “He was a decent enough person and asked if I could think about it and call him again in two months.

“Something changed in my life and I figured I’d stick it out,” Jolie admitted to the publication.

The actor’s battle with mental health didn’t end when she decided to cancel her booking with the hitman, but she has been able to address her post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) diagnosis in recent moments.

Last year, the Eternals star told The Times: “I’ve had a very blessed life, but I’ve had my own challenges. I’ve had PTSD.

“You often feel that feeling of being broken and wondering what you’re capable of, and being concerned you’re not able to be enough to protect and care for those you love.”

Since its first iteration in 1929, the Oscars has seen a lot of controversial moments.

From Ricky Gervais’s controversial jokes about Jeffrey Epstein and Leonardo DiCaprio’s love life, to the infamous moment when Will Smith cracked Chris Rock across the face – it’s certainly seen a lot.

But perhaps few moments compare to when Angelina Jolie and her brother, James Haven, made a bold declaration on the red carpet in 2000.

In fact, this year marks 24 years since the unforgettable Oscars moment took place – making the majority of us feel pretty old indeed.

A then-24-year-old Jolie had picked up an Oscar for her performance in Girl Interrupted in 2000 – something many felt was well deserved.

Once she took to the Academy Awards stage after picking up the award for Best Supporting Actress, Jolie mentioned her older brother Haven, then 26, who was with her at the glamorous ceremony.

In a fluster, Jolie said: “I’m in shock, and I’m so in love with my brother right now.

“He just held me and said he loved me, and I know he’s so happy for me. And, um, thank you for that.”

Outside, the siblings took their closeness to another level – right in front of the media.

While posing for pictures with her golden statue, Jolie turned and kissed Haven on the lips, cementing their place in tabloid history.

The smooch generated headlines around the world and popped up in interviews for years after.

When asked about the kiss a few months later, Jolie insisted that the peck was nothing more than ‘brotherly’ love.

At the time, Jolie told Entertainment Weekly: “My parents really loved that moment, and that’s what will always matter.”

Haven was also probed over the backstory to the infamous kiss.

Talking to the Daily Mail in 2007, he said: “I did not give Angie a French kiss. It was something simple and lovely. She was about to go off to Mexico to finish filming Original Sin with Antonio Banderas.

“I congratulated her on the Oscar win and gave her a quick kiss on the lips. It was snapped and became a big thing.”

The two siblings have remained close – with Haven reportedly looking after Jolie’s kids while she was working out with her divorce with Brad Pitt.

Jolie, who has since been nominated for a Best Actress Oscar, is known for grand declarations of love.

When she was married to her second husband, Billy Bob Thornton, the two took to wearing vials of each other’s blood around their necks.

Speaking of the unusual arrangement in 2014, Thornton insisted that it didn’t seem so strange at the time.

The Bad Santa star said: “She thought it would be interesting and romantic if we took a little razorblade and sliced our fingers, smeared a little blood on these lockets and you wear it around your neck just like you wear your son or daughter’s baby hair in one.

“Same thing. From that we were wearing quart jars of blood around our necks.

“And we were vampires and we lived in a dungeon.”

A teenage schoolboy has admitted he didn’t recognise Angelina Jolie when she walked into a cafe while he was having a snack in war-ravaged Ukraine last week.

Julian, 14, was wearing his headphones when Jolie entered the Lviv eatery, and despite others approaching the actress for autographs, he didn’t so much as look up from his phone, much to the delight of Twitter.

Jolie, who is a special envoy for the United Nations refugee agency, made a surprise visit to the western Ukrainian city on Saturday (30 April), where she visited an orphanage.

Julian was listening to music and checking social media when the A-lister strolled inside, and in true teenager fashion, remained glued to his device despite being inches from one of the most famous people on the planet.

Speaking to 1+1 Ukrainian TV, Julian later explained: “I sat at the table, overheard that someone was speaking English, and thought it was some American Instagram celebrity.

“So I realised that it was some celebrity, but did not figure out who it was. In reality she is very beautiful, and in the movies, you know, [she has] so much makeup that you won’t recognise her.”

Julian revealed it wasn’t until he got home and was shown a video of the moment by his mum that he realised exactly who had walked into the cafe.

“When I got home, my mum showed me a video, which our neighbour shared with her, and I was already popular,” the teen explained.

“It was like a waking dream. All seemingly real, but as if also you can wake up and everything disappears.”

Twitter was delighted by Julian’s nonchalant response, with one person tweeting: “The lad at the table takes cool to a whole new level.”

Another quipped: “When you’re born in the 2010s and you don’t know who Angelina Jolie is,” while a third wrote: “So cute how the kid is watching his phone, oblivious of her. So typical of kids.”

A fourth social media user added: “Kid missing Angelina Jolie due to being absorbed by cellphone. Modern society on display.”

Other comments included: “That kid is completely oblivious, fantastic,” and: “Gotta love the kid so absorbed that he doesn’t notice.”

Footage of Jolie’s cafe visit has since been widely shared on social media, with the star appearing to greet fans as she entered the coffee shop.

According to MailOnline, officials were unaware Jolie would be visiting the orphanage outside Lviv.

The actress – who arrived in Ukraine on Saturday and is thought to have left on Sunday night – also stopped by a hospital and spoke to fleeing refugees at a nearby train station.

Of her visit, she said in a statement: “I’m humbled to witness the resilience and courage and dignity of the Ukrainian people. The impact the war is having on a generation of Ukrainian children is devastating to see.”
