A woman who experienced severe pain for almost two decades got an unexpected explanation for her discomfort.
The 36-year-old woman, who hails from Thailand, gave birth 18 years ago and doctors were concerned about the excessive bleeding she was experiencing at the time.
With this in mind, medical professionals attending to the unnamed woman were keen to stitch her up as quickly as possible — but they left something behind.

After nearly 20 years of pain and discomfort, in November of last year, the woman in question approached Pavena Foundation for Children and Women for support.
She had an X-ray, which revealed that she had a needle lodged in vagina, which had been there since she gave birth 18 years ago.
It’s believed that the needle was left inside her when doctors rushed to stitch her up after childbirth in light of the excessive bleeding she had.
Upon the recent discovery, apparently a doctor tried ‘using his fingers’ to retrieve the needle, The Independant reports, but couldn’t get to it.

With this in mind, she was sent for surgery in the Songkhla province. However, because the needle keeps moving inside of her, the surgery has been postponed on a handful of occasions.
The woman has to visit the hospital at least four times a month for follow-ups to monitor her health.
This caused money problems for her, which is what sparked her to reach out to Pavena Foundation for Children and Women for help.
“Her family is poor, so she asked Paveena to help,” the foundation said.
Reportedly, Pawina Hongsakul, the head of the foundation, has reached out to a public hospital and set up an appointment for the woman’s treatment, while the department of social development and human security in the province will hopefully help transport the woman to and from her home to the hospital.

At the time of writing, it’s unclear if and when the woman is scheduled to have the procedure to remove the needle.
It’s also unknown if she plans on taking legal action against the hospital for the mistake that occurred 18 years ago and has affected her ever since.
Sadly, medical mistakes aren’t uncommon, and one man in Florida lost his life following his surgeon’s mistake.
William Bryan, 70, underwent surgery in August 2024, but never made it out the hopsital after the doctor allegedly removed the wrong organ.
Bryan was supposed to have his liver removed, but instead they took out his spleen.

A woman was left in agonising pain after she wore a sex toy while undergoing an MRI scan.
If you’re crossing your legs and wincing while reading this, you’re not alone.
The unfortunate patient broke one of the main rules of having an MRI, short for Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
Getty Stock Photo)
Any MRI scanner is essentially a giant magnet that uses radiowaves to generate an image. The downside of this is that it means anything containing metal – like an underwired bra or coins in your pockets – must be removed before entering it. To put it in perspective, MRI magnets are approximately 100,000 times stronger than the Earth’s magnetic field.
The unnamed patient had a sex toy inserted in her back passage before going into the scanner.
The hidden toy caused the woman to be screaming in agony as it tried to make an exit through her body to the magnet surrounding her.
Before you go into an MRI scanner, the consultant asks if you have anything metal on you, or anything that has been placed inside you for surgery (like a pacemaker or metal plates for reconstruction).
The women was asked, but she had apparently believed the sex toy was made from 100 percent silicone.
She didn’t declare it because she thought it was safe, but unfortunately, it contained a metal core.
The giant magnet caused the metal core to be attracted to it, and attempted to work a way out.
An image of the toy has been circulating online, much to the horror of social media users.
The picture of the alleged incident was shared by X (formerly Twitter) user ‘DreadPirateZero’, who wrote: ” “Never wear a butt plug to your MRI appointment. My god….”
It was claimed that the magnet caused the toy to shoot up into their chest cavity at the ‘speed of sound’.
Ouch.
It is claimed that the patient miraculously survived the incident, but they did sustain ‘major injuries’.
A report tells of a patient left ‘screaming’ after undergoing an MRI scan.
The health professional who filed the report has not been named.
Reddit)
They stated: “She went in for the MRI and when the MRI was over and the tech was pulling the table out the patient started to scream.
“The patient stated that she felt nauseous, was in pain, and felt like she was going to pass out.
“An ambulance was called for this patient and she was sent to the hospital.
“The patient was checked out by the radiologist at the site before transport to ensure the patient was doing okay.
“The patient has not returned any of our calls yet to try and follow up to see how she is doing.”
A medical expert has cast doubt on some details of the story, saying that the ‘speed of sound’ part is probably exaggeration.
Professor Adam Taylor is an expert in human anatomy at Lancaster University,.
He told MailOnline: “The speed at which ferromagnetic materials move in an MRI field is proportional to the mass of the object and how far away from the magnetic field it is,” he said.
“Things such as paper clips or hairpins would easily reach 40mph if within the field.
“As this ‘toy’ was predominantly silicone with a metallic core, there is potential that it moved at speed but not close to the speed of sound.”
Either way, it won’t have been fun.

After being diagnosed with terminal cancer a woman has been candid about how she would have lived her life differently.
31-year-old Amanda Hedges thought she had plenty of time to do all the things she wanted , but like many of us, she pushed these fun exploits further down the to do list.
But her life turned upside down last year when she was diagnosed with cancer after suffering from some mild headaches after increasing her anxiety medication.
“I asked my psychiatrist about it. They weren’t bad headaches and went away with Panadol,” she said.
However, her world came crashing down when a scan revealed he worst – a cancerous tumor in her brain.
Speaking to FEMAIL, the Brisbane woman explained she has Glioblastoma, an aggressive, terminal brain cancer.
Her cancer is typically seen in ‘old people’ aged 60 to 80 years old with most living between three and 24 months after diagnosis.
Amanda said she would live her life differently if she had a second chance (GoFundMe)
Her first six weeks of treatment included radiotherapy and chemotherapy and left her feeling nauseated and breathless.
This limited amount of time has left Amanda questioning how she wants to live out the rest of her days as well as what she regrets about how she was living before.
She said: “None of my old bosses or colleagues are sitting with me while I do chemo.
“It’s my mum and dad and friends that are here supporting me through this.
“I wish I could live again so I could stop worrying about the little things and enjoy myself.
“‘I would spend more time with the people who actually mattered, make more of an effort to meet someone and have kids, to travel.
“If I had my time again I would do everything different.”
While Amanda can’t have a do-over, she has also expressed what she wants to do with some of her final months.
Amanda updated her GoFundMe with a picture of herself in a new wig (GoFundMe)
She continued: “I really want to stay at a hotel on the beach and just listen to the waves and forget that I am dying. Forget that I am me. Be someone else for a few days and just relax and have fun.
“I have also always wanted to head back to Australia Zoo and see Robert Irwin do a show. I saw his dad do one when I was a kid but I have always just put off going.
“And I really want to go to an all-you-can-eat buffet. I guess hotels would have that covered.”
As well as this, she has started a GoFundMe in order to have the necessary funds to focus on living life to the fullest.

A woman living with a chronic condition that leaves her in constant pain has shared that she wishes to end her life via euthanasia.
Carolina Arruda from Brazil shared that she has plans to go to Switzerland to die by euthanasia as the practice is banned in her home country.
Carolina lives with a chronic condition which cannot be cured, and which means she has to live in excruciating pain.
The 27-year-old lives in Bambuí in south-east Brazil, and was diagnosed with bilateral trigeminal neuralgia when she was just 16 years old.
This condition affects four out of 100,000 people in the world and causes extreme pain in patients.
The mom-of-one describes the pain as like being shocked on both sides of her face with 220 volts.

Simple everyday actions such as brushing your teeth, chewing, drinking, and sneezing can cause agonising pain for patients.
Describing the condition, Carolina told CNN: “Imagine a pain that makes it impossible to speak, smile, eat. It’s the simplest things that this pain limits and incapacitates me in a way that I can’t describe.”
She added: “There are times when all I can do is lie down and curl up in a corner and wait for this pain to go away, but it never really goes away. I live with this pain 24 hours a day.”
Carolina has explored a lot of other options before making her heartbreaking decision.
Explaining, she said: “I tried several pharmacological treatments, from conventional medications to more experimental options.

“I invested time, money and an immense amount of energy in the search for anything that could alleviate my pain.”
Tragically, these were not enough to improve the condition.
Carolina said: “Every day, I tried to find meaning, to find hope, but the pain was always there, without stopping.
“It’s not a lack of love for life or for the people around me, it’s simply a cry for compassion, for a dignified end, you know?”
Ultimately, she has made the decision to travel to Switzerland to die, where euthanasia is legal.
She said: “The decision to have euthanasia was the hardest decision and, at the same time, the clearest for me.
“Even with the support of my family, and all the possibilities for a happy life, the constant pain turned my life into a real torment.”

A woman who was devastatingly scammed out of $850,000 by a fake Brad Pitt has provided a heartbreaking update, as per recent reports.
The French woman, known as Anne in the media, revealed that she had been conned out of thousands of euros for what she believed was to pay for Pitt’s ‘cancer treatment’.
The interior designer was first approached by who she thought was Pitt when an Instagram account messaged her in February 2023 claiming to be the star’s mother, BFM TV reports.
Following that, the person messaged once more – but this time, claiming to be the well-known actor himself.

Anne said she was ‘flabbergasted’ by the message, telling TF1: “In fact, we’re talking about Brad Pitt, I’m falling from the clouds. At first, I tell myself it’s fake, but I don’t really understand what’s happening to me. After that, we will contact each other every day and we become friends.
“There are so few men who write you this kind of thing. I liked the man I was talking to. He knew how to talk to women, it was always very well done.”
The pair then began a relationship and the person behind the account later proposed marriage to Anne – but it was all a hoax.
The fake account, which Anne believed to be Pitt, claimed they couldn’t afford ‘cancer treatment’ due to the divorce proceedings between Pitt and ex-wife Angelina Jolie.
To make it more believable, the account Anne was talking to AI-generated images of him in hospital – with one showing him holding a sign saying ‘Anne, I love you’.
After being promised luxury gifts, Anne sent over the money and it was until summer 2024 that the situation dawned on Anne that the individual behind the account was not Pitt after she saw pictures of the actor with his new girlfriend, Ines de Ramon.
Anne’s lawyer, Laurène Hanna, has since confirmed her client is trying to retrieve the money and has been left homeless as a result.
“Love scams on the internet are not new,” the lawyer said. ” Anne is really not the only one. What my client needs is to be given some sensible advice and to be treated with dignity.”

After the story went viral, Pitt’s representatives have since issued a statement.
Speaking to The Independent, they said: “It’s awful that scammers take advantage of the strong bond between fans and celebrities.
“This is an important reminder not to respond to unsolicited online messages, especially from actors who are not present on social networks.”
