Mel Gibson has surprising reaction to Trump giving him ambassador role to make ‘Hollywood great again’

Ahead taking office, Donald Trump had quite the odd statement on how he intends to fix Hollywood.

You might be hard pressed to find a movie fan who is happy with the state of Hollywood right now.

Admittedly, it is hard to get excited about unnecessary sequels, reboots, or prequels, but what most people didn’t have on their cards to fix some of the issues in the film industry was an ambassador to report directly to the US President.

Donald Trump is set to be sworn into office today (January 20), and he already made it clear how he wants to influence Hollywood.

In a post to Truth Social, he said he wanted Mel Gibson, as well as Jon Voight and Sylvester Stallone, to be special ambassadors.

In his post, Trump said: “It is my honor to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone, to be Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California.

“They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!

“These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will get done what they suggest. It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!”

While this might have seemed like a well-thought out and thoroughly work-shopped idea, Gibson admitted that he found out at the same time as Trump’s followers.

Speaking to Variety, he said: “I got the tweet at the same time as all of you and was just as surprised. Nevertheless, I heed the call. My duty as a citizen is to give any help and insight I can.”

He even jokingly asked: “Any chance the position comes with an Ambassador’s residence?”

As things stand, it still isn’t clear what exactly these roles will entail.

Gibson has been very vocally in support of Trump over the years, and he made it clear he would be choosing Trump over Kamala Harris in the run-up to the election.

Speaking in a video published by TMZ, Gibson explained it wouldn’t be a surprise who he would be voting for.

He added: “I know what it’ll be like if we let her in. And that ain’t good. Miserable track record. No policies to speak of. She’s got the IQ of a fence post.”

President-elect Trump says he wants to make Hollywood ‘bigger, better, and stronger than ever before’

Mel Gibson, Jon Voight, and Sylvester Stallone have been given important roles by president-elect Donald Trump.

While Trump isn’t actually in office just yet, he will be sworn in on Monday (January 20) and he’s already making moves.

According to Trump, Hollywood is a ‘very troubled place’ and, when he becomes president, he supposedly wants to make it ‘bigger, better, and stronger than ever before’.

How is he going to do that, I hear you ask? With the help of acting veterans Gibson, Voight, and Stallone, apparently.

Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, Trump penned: “It is my honor to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone, to be Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California.

“They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!”

The post continued: “These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will get done what they suggest. It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!”

As it stands, its unclear what these roles will involve.

Speaking after the announcement, Braveheart favorite Gibson said he had no idea it was coming.

In a statement to USA Today, Gibson said: “I got the tweet at the same time as all of you and was just as surprised. Nevertheless, I heed the call. My duty as a citizen is to give any help and insight I can.”

In light of the actor having recently lost his Malibu home in the LA wildfires, the 69-year-old quipped: “Any chance the position comes with an Ambassador’s residence?”

It isn’t thought that Voigt — Angelina Jolie’s father — and Stallone have publicly addressed their new ambassadorships yet.

It’s unclear if the three actors will be in attendance at Trump’s inauguration on Monday, but one famous face who will be in Kid Rock.

The singer will be performing at the event alongside the likes of Carrie Underwood and the Village People.

Kid Rock recently appeared on Jesse Watters Primetime where he discussed his upcoming performance.

During the chat, he addressed the fact that Michelle Obama won’t be there and suggested that the former first lady is ‘a little angry’.

The music star went on to note that, while he did not vote for Barack Obama when he became president, he still performed at the 2009 Youth Inaugural Ball after being asked by him.

Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson have grown close after filming a new comedy flick together

Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson have apparently developed quite a close bond recently.

The Canadian-American actress has been promoting her latest movieThe Last Showgirl, which comes out tomorrow (Friday, January 10), but has also been pretty vocal about her admiration for Neeson after the pair bonded on the set of another movie.

The 72-year-old stars alongside Anderson in the upcoming reboot of the much-loved Leslie Nielsen comedy The Naked Gun.

Neeson plays Drebin Jr., the son of Nielsen’s character, Frank Drebin, in the original movies, released in 1988, 1991 and 1994.

The crime comedy film is officially the fourth flick in The Naked Gun franchise, with Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, Danny Huston, Liza Koshy, Cody Rhodes, CCH Pounder, and Busta Rhymes all featuring in the new sequel some 30 years after the last movie hit our screens.

With director, Akiva Schaffer at the helm, filming for the movie kicked off in early 2024, and it appears Anderson and Neeson have plenty of praise to share about one another.

Speaking on the late night talk show with host Seth Meyers on Wednesday (8 January), Anderson said filming for the comedy was ‘so fun’ and is ‘so different’ than The Last Showgirl.

The 57-year-old said: “It’s a, you know, high comedy. I’m literally running into walls which I’ve always wanted to do.”

But about Neeson, she remarked the Taken star is ‘such a gentleman’, adding he is ‘such a sweetheart, such a love’.

However, she revealed she was nervous to meet her co-star ahead of filming.

“I was also afraid to meet Liam, but Liam is also just a wonderful, generous person,” she gushed.

And when talking about the punchlines in the film, she said Neeson is a natural with jokes.

“Liam is hysterical. I mean he’s just a… you’re not going to see it coming. That’s how good he is.”

“We just, we had a great connection,” she continued to Seth Meyers before praising Schaffer as a ‘wonderful director’.

Her praise of Neeson come as he ‘confessed‘ to People Magazine he was ‘in love’ with the Baywatch star.

The Hollywood co-star said: “With Pamela, first off, I’m madly in love with her. She’s just terrific to work with.

“I can’t compliment her enough, I’ll be honest with you. No huge ego. She just comes in to do the work. She’s funny and so easy to work with.

“She’s going to be terrific in the film.”

The Naked Gun is scheduled to come to US movie theatres as of August 1 this year.

Anderson’s comments also come after it was announced her iconic red swimsuit worn in Baywatch will be featured in an exhibit in London later this year.

Speaking about the exhibit, Anderson said: “I heard that but I thought I had the only original suit in my safe.

“And then someone said they got it from David Hasselhoff and I don’t know why he would have my swimsuit. I don’t have his shorts or anything.”

George Clooney has brutal five-word response to Donald Trump after he told him to ‘get out of politics and go back to television’

George Clooney has brutal five-word response to Donald Trump after he told him to ‘get out of politics and go back to television’

George Clooney responded epically while on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

George Clooney has finally snapped back at Donald Trump two months after the former president told him to ‘go back to television’.

If you don’t remember the 45th president’s tirade about the two-time Oscar winning actor and President Joe Biden, then I’ll quickly brief you.

Back in July, Trump was not happy after Clooney wrote an 870-word op-ed for The New York Times calling for Biden to opt out of running for a second term to give the Democratic Party a better chance at beating Trump when voters got to the polls on November 5.

In it, the 63-year-old Democrat labeled Trump’s presidential campaign as a ‘revenge tour’, adding ‘we’re all so terrified by the prospect of a second Trump term’ that the party has ignored signs that Biden isn’t fit to stand again.

78-year-old Trump then took to Truth Social to say: “So now fake movie actor George Clooney, who never came close to making a great movie, is getting into the act. He’s turned on Crooked Joe like the rats they both are.

“What does Clooney know about anything? He uses the Democrat ‘talking point’ that Biden, the WORST President in the history of the United States, has ‘saved our Democracy’.

“No, Crooked Joe was the one who WEAPONIZED Law Enforcement against his political Opponent, who created the most devastating INFLATION in the history of our Country, who Embarrassed our Nation in Afghanistan, and whose crazy Open Border Policy has allowed millions of people to illegally pour into our Country, many from prisons and mental institutions.”

The Republican continued: “Crooked Joe Biden didn’t save our Democracy, he brought our Democracy to its knees. Clooney should get out of politics and go back to television. Movies never really worked for him!!!”

Now, Clooney has bit back while appearing as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday night (September 17).

The popular host dove into the Trump versus Clooney drama and even pulled up Trump’s post, saying himself ‘he doesn’t know that movies are fake does he?’, as they referenced the politician calling Clooney a ‘fake actor’.

Responding to Trump’s ‘get out of politics and go back to television’ line, the legendary actor quipped: “I will if he does.”

But Clooney is not the only celebrity to come under fire from Trump as he took to his social media platform again, the target this time was Taylor Swift.

He simply wrote: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”

It came after she urged her fans to use their vote any way they would like, while also informing them she will be voting for Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

Swift’s decision to let her fans know her political swaying came after Trump’s campaign team were duped when they posted a fake AI generated photo of her saying she was voting for the Republican.

“Today is an incredibly sad day for me,” Stallone began.

“I mean, I’m so torn up I can’t even tell you. I’m just trying to hold it in because Carl Weathers was such an integral part of my life, my success, everything about it.

“I give him incredible credit and kudos, because when he walked into that room, and I saw him for the first time, I saw greatness, but I didn’t realize how great.

“I never could have accomplished what we did with Rocky without him. He was absolutely brilliant. His voice, his size, his power, his athletic ability, but more importantly, his heart, his soul. It’s a horrible loss.

“He was magic, and I was so fortunate to be part of his life. So, Apollo, keep punching.”

In the caption, he added: “We lost a legend yesterday. My life was forever changed for the better the day I met Carl Weathers. Rest in power and keeping punching.”

Weathers starred as heavyweight boxing champion Apollo Creed in Stallone’s 1976 movie.

In the fourth film Rocky IV, Dolph Lundgren, now 66, co-starred alongside Weathers.

He also paid tribute, describing Weathers as a ‘terrific athlete and a good friend’.

“I was saddened to hear the news this morning. Along with the world, I will miss Carl. He was a great actor, a terrific athlete and a good friend,” he wrote.

“I cherish many special memories of Carl, both professionally and personally. Like Apollo Creed, he had that special charm that always brought a smile to your face.”

Meanwhile, Michael B. Jordan, who played Apollo’s son in the sequel Creed, also shared tribute, posting a story on his Instagram account and writing: “We lost a Legend.”
