An insane amount of personal wealth shared the room at President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The Republican was sworn in yesterday (January 20) for his second time in office, and one thing that was apparent was that the world’s richest people wanted to be in attendance.
In fact, four of the five wealthiest billionaires were present. Of course, there was Elon Musk who tops Forbes’ rich list with $433.9 billion, followed by Jeff Bezos $239.4 billion, Mark Zuckerberg in third at $211.8 billion, while Bernard Arnault and his family were also present, flying over from France with their $182.7 billion.
Only Oracle owner Larry Ellison, whose net worth is valued at $204.6 billion, snubbed the event. The combined wealth of the top four is $1,067,800,000,000 – that’s over a trillion for those who aren’t great with numbers.
But they weren’t the only billionaires in the room, of course, President Trump is one himself with Forbes calculating he has a net worth of $6.7 billion thanks to his real estate – notably the huge Trump Tower in New York.

Then there was the Australian media mogul Rupert Murdoch whose wealth accounts $22.2 billion in the US as he owns Fox , the New York Post and The Wall Street Journal.
If you’re a fan of the hit TV series Succession then you’ll be familiar with the 93-year-old, with it being widely known that the show is based on his family.
In fact, Murdoch himself is actually rumored to be in a secret legal battle with his four eldest children over who will run his media empire in the future.
Anyway, people over on Twitter, owned by Musk, were stunned at the wealth in the room for Trump’s inauguration.

One tweeted: “Combined $912 BILLION of net worth seated next to each other at President Trump’s Inauguration. Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Sundar Pichai.”
Another person wrote: “The irony that Americans didn’t want to be controlled by multi-millionaire Democratic celebrities but are now controlled by billionaire Republican tech entrepreneurs.”
While another commented: “All this billionaires flocking to Trump’s side (Bezos, Zuckerberg, Pichai…) should be a massive red flag.
“Like they give a s*** for your rising prices of groceries and housing. They only want to line their pockets with your money.”
Meanwhile Bernie Sanders tweeted: “When I started talking about Oligarchy, many people didn’t understand what I meant. Well, that’s changed.
“When the 3 wealthiest men in America sit behind Trump at his inauguration, everyone understands that the billionaire class now controls our government.
“We must fight back.”
Shockingly, there was enough money in that room to completely eradicate world hunger and homelessness.

Elon Musk was spotted giving an enthusiastic thumbs up during Donald Trump’s inaugural speech, which massively contrasted Barron Trump’s reaction.
People tuning into Donald Trump‘s inaugural speech were left gasping for air with laughter after the cameras showed Elon Musk and Barron Trump during the speech.
As Trump commented on America‘s goal of putting a person on Mars, Musk is seen giving a super enthusiastic thumbs up, while stood next to Barron Trump and applauding.
Barron on the other hand, looked pretty unfazed by the whole thing and doesn’t so much as give a smile. Take a look:
As you can imagine the clip of the moment has already started spreading on social media with many delighted by the night and day difference between the two men.
One user commented: “Barron Trump looked like he feared being the first person sent to Mars.”
While another wrote: “Barron Trump giving zero f**ks about Mars while standing next to Elon Muck.”
A third wrote: “Tuned into the Trump inauguration speech for literally less than a minute and was just in time to get this screen shot of Barron Trump looking like he wants to k*ll himself being stuck next to Elon Musk.”
With another adding: “I’m gonna assume Baron Trump is Not a fan of Elon Musk by what I just saw on cam lol.”

Now, it does make sense why Musk would be spotted applauding and beaming ear to ear based on what Trump said.
The now sworn-in-president said: “We will pursue our manifest destiny into the stars, launching American astronauts to plant the Stars and Stripes on the planet Mars.”
This is something Musk has publicly spoken about for years and a man on Mars is one of the goals he wishes to see achieved in his lifetime – despite the planet recently being deemed as ‘unsafe for humans to live’ by experts.
Despite the hopes of Musk, experts have also been clear of the many difficulties that starting a civilization on Mars could expect.
Last year David Kipping, the Assistant Professor, Department of Astronomy at Columbia University, spoke to Valuetainment and explained how some people have their doubts regarding Musk’s plans to put civilizations on the red planet.
He said: “Yeah, some of my colleague’s kind of think it’s ridiculous and think it’s just totally crazy that we’ll ever do this.”

However he did note that he had no issue with Musk putting his money into projects that could lead to Mars’ colonization.
He continued: “I get the philosophy. The philosophy is, as long as we’re all on planet Earth we’re at risk because all it takes is one giant meteor or one nuclear war or whatever cataclysm you want, and we’re all gone.
“So, if your objective is to preserve the species then it totally makes sense that you would want to have a second base and whether that base be on the moon or Mars, I don’t really have a strong opinion.”

Bernie Sanders attended Donald Trump’s inaugural ceremony viewers spotted clear similarity between now and the 2021 ceremony.
The eagle-eyed viewers have been in hysterics after spotting Bernie Sanders at Donald Trump‘s inaugural ceremony.
Some social media users even swear the senator is striking the exact same pose as he did during Biden’s ceremony way back in 2021.
In a snap of Sanders with his arms folded disapprovingly one Twitter user joked: “Bernie Sanders saying to hisself this could of been a email.”
With another adding: “He still looks cranky, but at least warmer than the last one.”
And a third writing: “Grumpy grandpa’s gonna grump.”
In the 2021 pose, Sanders is seen wearing a face mask and mittens, due to the cold weather Washington D.C. was facing at the time.
This time around, due to the cold snap facing the city, the ceremony was held inside away from the cold, meaning no need for mittens.
Thanks to the COVID-19 being mostly in the past, no need for a facemask either.
Seemingly the same disapproving look from Sanders, however…

Today has been coming for a long time, if you’re a Republican you’ll be delighted but if you’re not then it’s a bitter pill to swallow.
The inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th US President will take place in Washington DC, beginning at 11.30am Eastern Time and around half-an-hour into it the 78-year-old will be sworn in for his second time in charge.
But during the President-elect’s final ‘MAGA’ rally before he is sworn in, he spoke about vote counting computers in Pennsylvania and people on Twitter think he might have incriminated himself and Elon Musk in ‘odd’ confession at the rally.
President-elect Donald Trump came out with a weird statement about vote-counting computers during his final speech before being sworn in as President (NewsMax TV)
Speaking of Musk at the rally, Trump said: “And then he journeyed to Pennslyvania where he spent a month and a half campaigning for me and he’s a popular guy.
“He knows those computers better than anybody. All those computers, those vote-counting computers, and we ended up winning Pennsylvania like in a landslide.
“So, it was pretty good, it was pretty good. So, thank you to Elon.”
Taking to the social media platform, one user posted: “This is called a confession.”
“What an odd thing to say,” another typed.
While a third was shocked at what the soon-to-be president said. They said: “Did he just……..”
With a fourth adding: “Now, Trump suggests that Elon Musk rigged the PA vote-counting computers in his favor.
“Surely the GOP will be demanding a full investigation into Trump and his oligarch wannabe-dictator buddies. Right?”
However, not everyone saw it this way, and suggested that people are grasping at straws.
They tweeted: “I literally just watched it and he never said any of that…”
Elon Musk, who spoke during Trump’s victory rally, apparently knows vote-counting computers better than anybody (NewsMax TV)
While another explained: “‘Depending on which county a resident lives in, they may vote by voting machine, or they may vote with a paper ballot that is scanned in.
“Pennsylvania uses different systems to count mail-in ballots in some parts of the state that are used to count the same-day vote, and every vote in the state leaves a paper trail.’
“Therefore it would be technically impossible to hack voting machines since the paper trail would not match up. Wishful thinking though.”
Could that be all it was? I’m no expert but there’s too much conspiracy around vote-counting in the US, I personally believe Trump won fair and square – as did President Joe Biden in the 2020 elections.
“Now I’m convinced the inauguration will be inside due to protests,” commented one person, and by the outrage his comments have struck on Musk’s own social media platform… moving it indoors might be best.

Elon Musk has been sued by the US markets regulator for allegedly buying Twitter shares at ‘artificially low prices’ after failing to disclose the stake he had amassed before buying the platform.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a lawsuit against the Tesla CEO on Tuesday and claimed Twitter investors were underpaid $150 million in stock prices as a result of his actions.
Before Musk finalized his controversial $44 million takeover of the once-popular social media platform – which he later renamed X – he began to buy up shares in the company, the lawsuit claims.
After acquiring more than five percent of the business‘ stock in March 2022, Musk had 10 days to report his ownership.

But the SEC’s filing says Musk did not report until 21 days after going beyond that threshold.
The US regulator said Musk’s ‘violation’ had resulted in ‘substantial economic harm to investors’ and in its filing asked the court to order Musk, the richest man on the planet, with a net worth of more than $400 billion, as per Forbes, to pay a fine and return ‘unjust’ profits.
The SEC said Twitter’s share price rose by more than 27 percent after Musk made his share purchase public in April 2022.
“During the period that Musk was required to publicly disclose his beneficial ownership but had failed to do so, he spent more than $500 million purchasing additional shares of Twitter common stock,” the lawsuit says.

“Because Musk failed to timely disclose his beneficial ownership, he was able to make these purchases from the unsuspecting public at artificially low prices, which did not yet reflect the undisclosed material information of Musk’s beneficial ownership of more than five percent of Twitter common stock and investment purpose.”
Musk’s lawyer, Adam Spiro, told the Huffington Post the lawsuit was a ‘sham’ and a petty effort by outgoing SEC chair Gary Gensler to hurt Musk.
“The SEC’s multi-year campaign of harassment against Mr. Musk culminated in the filing of a single-count ticky tak complaint against Mr. Musk … for an alleged administrative failure to file a single form — an offense that, even if proven, carries a nominal penalty,” Spiro said.

In a post to X responding to the SEC, Musk himself called it a ‘totally broken organization’ and accused it of wasting time going after him when ‘there are so many actual crimes that go unpunished’.
The tech billionaire could soon have a say over the running of the SEC when he begins his role as an adviser to US President-elect Donald Trump as part of the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which has been tasked with trimming the US federal budget.
The new department will sit outside government but will offer guidance to the Trump White House, with Musk leading it alongside former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy.
