This is how one alcoholic drink every day can impact your body over time

A new report has lifted the lid on precisely what happens to the human body if just one alcoholic beverage is consumed every day.

We all know excessive alcohol consumption can give our heart, liver, gut and overall health a beating with health care professionals around the world unanimously agreeing we’re best steering clear of liquor entirely.

Now, a new White House report has analyzed what really happens to the body when we consume alcohol even moderately compared to teetotallers.

The 81-page report, titled Scientific Findings of the Alcohol Intake & Health Study for Public Comment, draws on the expertise of several of the best heavily qualified US scientists and professors in public health, mental health, epidemiology and alcohol and substance use.

Their studies revealed having just one alcohol drink per week raises the risk of more than 20 health conditions when compared to not drinking, including infectious diseases, eight types of cancers, four cardiovascular diseases, like stroke and heart failure, liver cirrhosis, pancreatitis, diabetes and epilepsy – but there were some anomalies when it came to just one per day – and differences between men and women.

One drink per week and cancer link

For men, just one drink a week can hike the risk of colon cancer by 16 percent and esophageal cancer by six percent, compared to those who did not drink, the study shows.

As for women, the report said one drink a week increases the risk of pharyngeal cancer, esophageal cancer, laryngeal cancer by five percent as well as breast cancer.

The report added: “Increased risk for these cancers begins with any alcohol use and increases with higher levels of use.

“Women experience a much greater risk of an alcohol-attributable cancer per drink consumed.”

Yet, interestingly, the research also found women are a lower risk of diabetes if they were to drink one beverage per day, and overall people who had one drink per week had a lower risk of diabetes and no heightened risk of heart disease compared to those who don’t consume alcohol.

Heart disease and one drink per day

The theory that moderate drinking is beneficial to heart health has now been debunked as the new study says men who drink two units per day, and women who have one drink ,experience ‘no difference in risk’ for heart disease compared to those who don’t drink.

But the report did find low to moderate drinkers of no more than one drink per week have a lower risk of stroke by 10 per cent, which went down even further to eight percent for those who had one drink a day or seven drinks per week.

Death and injury

Still, researchers say both men and women have a one in 1,000 risk of dying from alcohol use if they drink more than seven drinks a week, which hikes to just one in 100 risk when more than nine drinks are consumed in a week.

People who drink alcohol also have a higher risk of intentional or unintentional injuries, like car crashes.

The research comes as scientific evidence is being compiled to shape new drinking and dietary guidelines in the US as President-elect Donald Trump, who doesn’t drink, takes office on Monday (January 20).

Current US guidelines advise men consume no more than two alcoholic drinks per day, while women should have no more than one per day.

Kevin Shield, head of the World Health Organization (WHO) and senior scientist in mental health and addiction, who co-wrote the report, told The Daily Mail: “It’s important to note that our report found that no level of alcohol consumption is completely risk-free.

“The analysis results show that, among drinkers, the lower their alcohol consumption, the lower their risk of mortality.

“Conversely, as alcohol consumption increases, so does the risk of mortality. So when it comes to alcohol use, less is best for health.”

Pan Xiaoting passed away amid completing mukbang challenges eating 10kg of food for over 10 hours with no break and a doctor has spoken out

Warning: This article contains descriptions of disordered eating which some readers may find distressing

A doctor has spoken out following the death of a popular streamer in China, who died as a result of overeating while on camera.

On 14 July, streamer Pan Xiaoting passed away while on a livestream with her followers.

The 24-year-old took part in a genre of streaming video called mukbang – where creators post videos of themselves eating, often in excessive amounts or consuming unhealthy food – and is previously reported as having eaten food for more than 10 hours every day without a break, alongside another challenge of eating over 10kg of food in a meal.

Mukbang videos were banned in China in 2020 to prevent food waste and reduce overeating, however, in Xiaoting’s final broadcast on her channel in which she passed away, it’s believed overeating led to her passing.

An autopsy showed her stomach was filled with undigested food and her abdomen was severely deformed, the Maeil Business Newspaper reports.

And a doctor has since spoken out about what happens to your body if you eat 10kg of food in a 10-hour period.

In an interview with the Daily Star, Dr Gareth Nye, a senior lecturer at Chester Medical school in the UK, explained: “The quicker you eat the more you can get in before the signals are clear but the average person will still reach a feeling of fullness.”

However, ‘competitive eaters or extreme eaters do not have this normal pathway’.

So, if someone continues to eat a large quantity of food over a short period of time, Dr Nye explains the body ‘will physically stretch to accommodate the food but the release from the stomach to the intestines is heavily controlled’.

“There are only so many calories the body can take in so much of the food will go through the intestinal transit undigested,” he added.

And undigested food can lead to some nasty symptoms.

Dr Nye revealed undigested food can lead to ‘way too much glucose’ in the body which ’causes a stress response’ known as ‘dumping syndrome’.

This can lead to the person suffering from ‘heavy sweating, rapid heartbeat, nausea and diarrhoea’.

Dr Nye likens people’s watching of such over-eating videos as eliciting a similar ‘morbid fascination or disgust’ to videos of ‘pimple popping’ for example.

He resolved: “In my opinion it is glamorising unhealthy eating practices to a wide audience, particularly children which I worry will lead to issues within the wider population as our children grow and develop.”

Man leaves people horrified revealing he’s eating raw bull testicles every day ‘for science’

The man is planning to eat raw bull testicles every single day in the name of science

Warning: Some readers may find the content in this article disturbing

A man has left the internet horrified after revealing he’s eating raw bull testicles every day ‘for science’.

There are some pretty disgusting things on the internet, but this particular video is surely up there.

A man from Florida has shocked many social media users by eating raw bull testicles in a bid to boost his testosterone. Be warned, it’s not pretty:

I mean, people go to extraordinary lengths for health, but this is example is surely up there.

The now-social media star known as John first rose to fame earlier this year after announcing a plan to eat raw chicken every day for 100 days.

The Florida man managed to successfully do this without getting salmonella, so he’s set his sights even higher.

Now, he’s eating raw bull testicles. Yep, bull testicles…

“We are always told that organ meats, especially testicles, will take you to the next level,” John wrote in a caption to a viral clip posted to his Instagram.

“How would eating the balls of a cow not make you have huge balls yourself? This is the science we are here to test. I will be eating balls and updating daily on many aspects of how I feel physically and mentally.

“I’ll update if my energy is crazy or my peepee gets larger etc.”

The first video of John’s crazy challenge sees him taking a knife to the animal scrotum before cutting it open and eating the testicles with his bare hands.

While doing so, blood is pouring out of the testicles, making for some incredibly unpleasant viewing.

Many have flocked to the comments section of the Instagram video, with the vast majority horrified.

“Bro tf, I felt uncomfortable watching this ngl,” one person wrote while a second added: “I literally almost threw up.”

Naturally, people have been sickened by John's squeemish antics. (Instagram/@rawmeatexperiment)

And a third penned: “This might be more disgusting than the raw chicken lol.”

In the days since, John has continued feast on bull testicles, teaming them with a variety of different food items.

In one particular clip, John created a BLT, though this is not the typical bacon, lettuce and tomato we all know and love.

Instead, this BLT contains ‘balls, lettuce, tomato’ – certainly making for a completely different dining experience.

In another bizarre video, the social media star could be seen adding the testicles to a pasta with sauce.

Certainly not many people’s idea of tasty…

A body has been discovered in a freezer located in a Food Lion grocery store in North Carolina.

On Tuesday (September 10), police were called to a branch of Food Lion located on the 4500 block of Capital Boulevard in Raleigh, North Carolina after several employees discovered a man’s body in one the store’s supply freezer.

The man is reported as having been an employee of the store, CBS 17 reports.

The death is being investigated by the Raleigh Police Department, OSHA and other labor and safety authorities.

Officials said they do not suspect foul play to be involved, instead, they believe on Monday the man experienced a heart attack and then ended up inside the freezer where he ‘died of natural causes’.

A Food Lion spokesperson told UNILAD: “Food Lion is deeply saddened by the unexpected loss of our associate. We express our deepest condolences to the associate’s family and friends.

“Food Lion is cooperating with local authorities in their investigation of this unfortunate incident. As always, the safety and well-being of customers and associates are daily priorities for Food Lion, and we are committed to ensuring a safe place to work and shop. We are providing resources to support our associates during this difficult time.”

UNILAD has contacted the Raleigh Police Department for comment.

While this seems strange, it’s not the first time a person has passed away in a strange location within a grocery store.

In 2009, a 25-year-old named Larry Ely Murillo-Moncada was reported missing by his parents a day after Thanksgiving.

Ten years later in January 2019, workers were clearing out a No Frills supermarket in Council Bluffs, Iowa – which had closed in 2016 – when they found human remains wedged in a gap behind one of the store’s fridges.

DNA testing confirmed the body to be that of Murillo-Moncada – who actually used to work at the store.

Former employees revealed workers would sometimes climb on top of the fridge units while stocking them.

It was subsequently resolved by officials no foul play had been involved and that the young man must’ve climbed on top of the fridge and then fallen into the 18-inch gap between the unit and the wall where he became trapped.

The noise of the fridge’s compressors may’ve resulted in Murillo-Moncada being unable to be heard if he yelled for help and his death was ruled as an accident.

Council Bluffs Police Department, Sergeant Brandon Danielson, said to KETV at the time: “You don’t hear about these types of cases, people found in walls. Especially in this area, so that would be the odd part of about. We have missing person cases all the time, but this is just unique.”

Bartender reveals bizarre way she makes $6,000 every night during Spring Break

Bartender reveals bizarre way she makes $6,000 every night during Spring Break

It’s not just the alcohol which could leave you with a sore head the next day.

A bartender has revealed the signature shots she serves which helps her earn as much as $6,000-a-night.

As if doing shots doesn’t leave you with enough of a headache the next morning, a 26-year-old bartender who works in South Florida has some tricks up her sleeve when serving Spring Breakers which sees the cash roll in.

Prepare to question why you’re still sat at your desk at your 9-5 day job…

By day, Aiyana Callas – a former Nova Southeastern University graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology and Research – is often spotted out and about sailing.

By night, during the two months of Spring Break season, the 26-year-old takes on the character of her alter ego ‘Hurricane Aiyana’ – a bartender with ‘a pretty unique set of skillz’ and ‘a speciality in smackdowns’.

And there’s a shot sold by Backyard Fort Lauderdale where she works called the ‘hurricane’ shot which Callas has added her own special adaptations to – selling shots from $30 to $60.

She tells Axios she sold a staggering 150-200 hurricane shots every night in March while working at the club – that totals a whopping $6,000 plus every night.

But why are Callas’ shots so pricey? And what’s Callas’ unique twists on the drink?

Well, the shot costs from $30 because Callas’ shot is no ordinary shot.

When customers buy a $30 ‘hurricane’ shots, they don’t just receive a liquid shot, but also a pitcher of water dumped over their heads and a slap to the face for good measure.

Oh and Callas has added her own special ingredient to the shot too, performing acrobatics and acting out the slap as if she’s a wrestler.

There’s also the ‘Tornado’ sold for $35 and the ‘Four Piece Combo’ for $60 too and that’s just to name a few which Callas has listed on her Instagram.

The shots and Callas’ theatrics while serving them has seen the graduate go viral on social media and she’s even set up her own website for people to request her at parties.

However, all is not quite as it seems when it comes to Callas slapping customers in the face.

Callas gets paid to slap people in the face.

The bartender explains she is ‘100 percent a performer at best’.

Callas continues: “I’m really good at making it look like I’m slapping them as hard as I can. But I am absolutely not slapping them as hard as I can.”

In many of her videos posted to Instagram, her captions reassure ‘no one was harmed in the making’ of the content.

“This was a staged act and everyone involved consented to participating,” she adds.

She explains Spring Breakers pay her for the shot because it’s ‘entertaining’ and they ‘think it’s funny,’ able to also share videos of the ‘experience’ online.

Callas resolves: “At the end of the day these are kids and I’m always trying to keep them safe.”
