Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ legal team have asked for an ‘appropriate protective order’ following Justin Baldoni’s team’s release of footage from the set of It Ends with Us.
In December 2024, Blake Lively filed a legal complaint against Justin Baldoni for sexual harassment and allegedly taking part in a ‘smear campaign’ against her.
Earlier this month, the A Simple Favor star filed another lawsuit for harassment and retaliation alleging Baldoni engaged in inappropriate behavior on set – including in one scene where their characters perform a slow dance. Baldoni’s legal team has branded Lively’s accusations as ‘categorically false’.
In Lively’s latest suit, she alleges in the slow dance scene within It Ends with Us, Baldoni ‘leaned forward and slowly dragged his lips from her ear and down her neck as he said, “It smells so good”.’
The suit also accuses Baldoni of ‘caressing Lively with his mouth in a way that had nothing to do with their roles’.
Baldoni’s company filed its own suit against Lively last week and on Tuesday (January 21), his legal team publicly released footage from the scene in question.
Baldoni’s team stated alongside the footage: “Both actors are clearly behaving well within the scope of the scene and with mutual respect and professionalism.”
However, Lively’s team slammed the footage as ‘damning’ and ‘an unethical attempt to manipulate the public’.
Lively and Reynolds’ legal team has since delivered a letter to Judge Lewis J Liman in the Southern District of New York seeking an ‘appropriate protective order’.
According to court documents obtained by USA Today, the letter accuses Baldoni and his legal team of a ‘harassing and retaliatory media campaign’ with ‘almost daily media statements and other releases’ to the press.

The letter follows a cease-and-desist letter which was reportedly sent by Lively and Reynolds’ legal team in December 2024.
It was allegedly sent to Baldoni’s primary attorney Bryan Freedman asking him to stop releasing ‘defamatory and retaliatory statements’ about the Gossip Girl star.
Baldoni and his business associates also received a letter asking them to stop ‘all unlawful conduct toward the Lively-Reynolds parties and their affiliates’.
On Tuesday, Lively and Reynolds’ legal team alleged Freedman has ‘given television interviews, appeared on podcasts, issued inflammatory written statements, and leaked information […] to the Hollywood press and tabloid media’ ‘virtually every day’.
“Those statements not only continue the campaign of retaliation that was the subject of Ms. Lively’s First Cease and Desist, but they contain numerous new false statements about Ms. Lively and others,” they argue.
Baldoni also directed the movie (Sony Pictures Releasing)
Lively and Reynold’s attorneys say they have ‘repeatedly’ tried to ‘caution Freedman federal litigation must be conducted in court and according to the relevant rules of professional conduct’.
They resolved: “His conduct threatens to, and will, materially prejudice both the Lively Case and the Wayfarer Case by tainting the jury pool, because his statements are deliberately aimed at undermining the ‘character, credibility, (and) reputation’ of numerous relevant parties and likewise includes ‘information the lawyer knows or reasonably should know is likely to be inadmissible as evidence in a trial,’ thereby creating a substantial risk of prejudice not just for Ms. Lively, but for numerous other parties in the matters.”
Alongside an ‘appropriate protective order,’ Lively and Reynolds’ legal team subsequently also requested a hearing to ‘address the appropriate conduct of counsel moving forward’.

Justin Baldoni has hit back against Blake Lively, claiming that there is footage of her joking about changing his appearance.
Baldoni, who is suing Lively, her husband, Ryan Reynolds, their publicist Leslie Sloane and Sloane’s PR firm, Vision PR, for $400 million, has come out to make several allegations.
It all began when the Gossip Girl star made the first move in making her own allegations in a lawsuit in December of 2024, which claimed that Baldoni tried to ‘destroy her reputation’ and also sexually harassed her while they were filming the movie, It Ends With Us.
Baldoni’s team branded Lively’s allegations as ‘categorically false’ and is counter suing based on defamation, civil extortion, ‘negligent interference with prospective economic advantage’ and ‘intentional interference’ with contractual relations.
Baldoni’s 179-page lawsuit, which was filed on January 16, accuses the actress and her husband of attempting to take creative control over the film and launch a crusade against his reputation.
Fans first began to notice a rift during the film’s press tour as Baldoni and Lively appeared to avoid each other and were never interviewed at the same time.

Now, in his new lawsuit, Baldoni claims that Lively made jokes about his physical appearance.
He went on to allege that Lively ‘continued to break character’ while filming a scene and started to ‘speak as herself rather than as Lily, which was extremely confusing for Baldoni.’
The document read: “Lively apologized for the smell of her spray tan and body makeup. Baldoni responded, ‘It smells good,’ and continued acting, slow dancing as he believed his character would with his partner, which requires some amount of physical touching.”
However, it is also alleged that she began to break character and ridicule his nose, something that he has been open about being an insecurity of his.
The filing states: “Lively took them out of character again and began to joke about Baldoni’s nose, which he laughed off and joked in turn, even as Lively joked that he should get plastic surgery.”

The lawsuit said that Lively ‘alleges Baldoni inappropriately commented on her physical appearance. It was the other way around’ and that Baldoni has ‘publicly expressed insecurities about and has discussed on an episode of his podcast, Man Enough, exploring the topic of body dysmorphia.’
He also claimed in the suit that the comments were ‘captured on camera’ and that she used Taylor Swift to gain more control over the production of their film.
In Lively’s lawsuit, she stated that there had to be an ‘all-hands’, where her husband was in attendance as they discussed Baldoni’s alleged behavior towards her and laid out rules that had to be in place going forward.
It was alleged that Baldoni was told to no longer show Lively ‘nude videos or images of women’ and that he needed to cease talking about his past ‘porn addiction’ and sex life.
His latest suit comes after filing a $250 million libel lawsuit against the New York Times in December, which alleged the newspaper ‘cherry-picked and altered communications’ without providing ‘necessary context’.

Justin Baldoni’s company is suing Blake Lively for $400,000,000 as bizarre claims about her apparent on-set behavior have been revealed.
Blakely’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, their publicist Leslie Sloane and Sloane’s PR firm, Vision PR, are also being sued by Baldoni’s team.
Baldoni is suing on on claims of civil extortion, defamation, false light invasion of privacy, breach of implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, as well as prospective economic advantage, negligent interference with prospective economic advantage and intentional interference with contractual relations, intentional interference with prospective economic advantage.

Bryan Freedman, Baldoni’s lawyer, told UNILAD: “This lawsuit is a legal action based on an overwhelming amount of untampered evidence detailing Blake Lively and her team’s duplicitous attempt to destroy Justin Baldoni, his team and their respective companies by disseminating grossly edited, unsubstantiated, new and doctored information to the media.
“It is clear based on our own all out willingness to provide all complete text messages, emails, video footage and other documentary evidence that was shared between the parties in real time, that this is a battle she will not win and will certainly regret. Blake Lively was either severely misled by her team or intentionally and knowingly misrepresented the truth.
“Ms. Lively will never again be allowed to continue to exploit actual victims of real harassment solely for her personal reputation gain at the expense of those without power.
“Let’s not forget, Ms. Lively and her team attempted to bulldoze reputations and livelihoods for heinously selfish reasons through their own dangerous manipulation of the media before even taking any actual legal action. We know the truth, and now the public does too. Justin and his team have nothing to hide, documents do not lie.”

Speculation mounted surrounding Baldoni and Lively’s alleged ‘friction’ on the set of 2024 movie It Ends With Us, while Lively also found herself being slammed online during the film’s press tour.
And last month, the Gossip Girl actor filed a federal lawsuit in New York accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment and ‘trying to destroy her reputation’ – accusations of which Baldoni’s team has branded ‘categorically false’.
Freedman has previously slammed the New York Times, saying: “It’s ironic that the New York Times, through their effort to ‘uncover’ an insidious PR effort, played directly into the hands of Lively’s own dubious PR tactics by publishing leaked personal text exchanges that lack critical context – the very same tactics she’s accusing the firm of implementing.”
While the publication defended its story as ‘meticulously and responsibly reported’.

Blake Lively allegedly sent a bizarre Games of Thrones text to Justin Baldoni as he sues her company for $400,000,000.
Baldoni is suing Lively, her husband, Ryan Reynolds, their publicist, PR firm, and friend, Taylor Swift, for $400 million on a raft of claims, sparked by the Gossip Girl star filing her own federal lawsuit accusing him of sexual harassment and ‘trying to destroy her reputation’.
The fall out all took place while Baldoni and Lively co-starred in the romantic drama, It Ends With Us, adapted from Colleen Hoover’s bestselling 2016 novel, which Baldoni also directed.

Now, Baldoni claims Lively embodied a Game of Thrones character in alleged text messages while the pair were filming the romantic drama
The director’s 179-page lawsuit, filed on January 16, claims that he was facing Lively’s ‘dragons’, two of of the most influential and wealthy celebrities in the world, who were not afraid to make things very difficult for him’, reports PEOPLE.
As part of this claim, he says Swift and Reynolds pressured him to accept Lively’s tweaks to certain scenes in the script and was ‘summoned’ to a meeting with Reynolds, accompanied by Swift, where they ‘praised’ Lively’s version.
In his complaint, Baldoni claimed he later text Lively that he found her rewrites ‘fun and interesting’, but ‘would have felt that way without Ryan and Taylor’ and added an emoji.
Lively allegedly responded comparing herself to Khaleesi, while her husband and friend are her two ‘dragons’.

The alleged message read: “I happen to have a few dragons. For better or worse, but usually for better. Because my dragons also protect those I fight for. So really we all benefit from those gorgeous monsters of mine. [Smiley-face emoji] you will too, I can promise you.”
Bryan Freedman, Baldoni’s lawyer, previously told UNILAD: “This lawsuit is a legal action based on an overwhelming amount of untampered evidence detailing Blake Lively and her team’s duplicitous attempt to destroy Justin Baldoni, his team and their respective companies by disseminating grossly edited, unsubstantiated, new and doctored information to the media.”

A Simply Favor director Paul Feig has taken to social media to urge people to call out ‘total BS’ following claims the sequel was ‘shelved indefinitely’.
Last month, Blake Lively filed a lawsuit against co-star and director of It Ends with Us Justin Baldoni accusing him of sexual harassment and of allegedly being involved in a smear campaign against her.
And amid the controversy, it would appear another film has been dragged into the mix – 2018 release A Simple Favor starring Lively and Anna Kendrick.
A Twitter user called Eric B took to the platform yesterday (January 10) claiming: “BREAKING: Amazon shelves A Simple Favor 2 indefinitely.
“Despite glowing test screenings, Blake Lively’s refusal to promote – amid her messy legal battle with Justin Baldoni – and growing tensions with Anna Kendrick have derailed the sequel.
“Anna is furious. Paul Feig is disappointed. Hollywood is in shock. This isn’t just a movie – it’s an implosion.
“[…] Disclaimer: This thread is based on publicly available information, insider accounts, and research. If you share or reference any part of this, please provide proper credit. Acknowledgment is appreciated and expected.”
And Feig has since responded, not disappointed with any apparent shelving but more so with the rumors, tweeting: “This is total BS. Sorry.
“The movie is finished and coming out soon. Don’t believe anything you read on social media these days.”

Eric B continued: “Hi Paul, if my story is ‘false,’ could you clarify why Amazon hasn’t set a release date for a film that wrapped in April 2024? Why are there no promo plans yet? Saying ‘coming out soon’ doesn’t really address the delays or the concerns. Would love to hear more!”
To which the director hit back: “My friend, it’s called post production, which generally takes over half a year at least when you factor in editing, scoring, special effects, sound mixing, close captioning and all the technical quality control that has to be done.
“Our post schedule always had us finishing everything by mid-January. Movies don’t come out the second they’re finished because the studio spends the previous year deciding the best date to release it. We’ve always planned on something in the spring/summer of this year.
“That’s how movies work. I hope this helps.”

As another Twitter user resolved: “You said that with a lot more patience, grace and dignity than I would have mustered.”
Indeed, back in May 2024, Feig took to Twitter to celebrate A Simple Favor reaching the top spot on Netflix alongside announcing the production had just wrapped on the sequel in Italy for Prime Video, with the sequel anticipated for release in 2025.
