Not all of our relationships are a roaring success, but the failed ones certainly teach us some valuable life lessons and help us come to some key realisations about ourselves.

In the case of Neil Patrick Harris, the end of his romance with Ben Stiller‘s now wife helped him blossom into his true self and come out as a gay man.

The 50-year-old actor, best known for his role as Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother, might be loud and proud these days, but he only came to terms with his sexuality during his teen years.

It was long before he took on the suit obsessed and sex-mad character he is recognised for, when he was a lesser-known name in the entertainment industry and still forging his path.

But he was steadily building his career after booking the starring role in ABC’s medical sitcom Doogie Howser, M.D, which started airing back in 1989.

During this period of his life, the then-teenage star was also thrust further into the public eye thanks to his relationship with Arrested Development star Christine Taylor.

She had just scored her breakout role as Marcia Brady 1995’s The Brady Bunch Movie, so the pair were quite the hot showbiz couple – for a fleeting moment.

After getting together in 1997, the couple ended up splitting the following year but remained amicable – but Harris later took the brunt of the blame for their failed romance.

A decade after their break-up and two years after he had publicly come out as a ‘very content gay man‘, he discussed what caused them to call time on their relationship during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show in 2008.

The American Horror Story actor said of Taylor: “She’s the coolest, nicest chick ever. She’s an absolute catch, and I thought, ‘If I’m not going to feel the super sparks with her… it probably means I’m gay’.”

While playing the role of womaniser Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother, Harris shared a statement with fans, saying: “I am happy to dispel any rumours or misconceptions and am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest and feel most fortunate to be working with wonderful people in the business I love.”

Harris is now happily married to fellow actor and chef David Burtka, after they became an item back in 2004.

The couple became parents in October 2010 when they welcomed twins, son Gideon and daughter Harper, via a surrogate and tied the knot in Italy in September 2014.

Taylor obviously went on to get together with Ben Stiller, who she met in 1999 while they were both filming sci-fi TV comedy Heat Vision and Jack.

The comedic couple also appeared alongside each other in films Zoolander, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, Tropic Thunder, and Zoolander 2 as well as in the TV series Arrested Development and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

They share children Ella, 21, and Quinlin, 18, together.

Taylor and Stiller separated in 2017 after 17 years of marriage, but later reconciled after the actor moved back into the family home during the pandemic.

She said: “We had so much time to talk, there were no other distractions, so it was a really special time for us, for the family. It just happened organically.”

Elliot Gwilliam couldn’t hide his emotions when the audio recording of his three-year-old Evie began playing as he waited for his bride back in December.

In the tear-jerking footage, the 34-year-old groom can be seen patiently waiting for his fiancée Emma Beddow, 27, to walk down the aisle.

But his composed exterior quickly cracked when he heard Evie’s voice blaring through the venue as she wished her parents a happy wedding day.

The couple got hitched at Hawkstone Hall and Gardens in the Shropshire village of Hodnet on 28 December.

Footage of the sweet moment from their big day has since gone viral after it was shared online, racking up more than 120 million views on social media.

Elliot explained that he ‘just lost it’ when the adorable message from his daughter began playing – which was a surprise arranged by his bride-to-be Emma.

“I’m walking down the aisle and will be with you now because you’re going to marry my mummy – and she looks beautiful,” the little girl says, before adding: “Like me!

“We love you so so much, to the moon and back. Love you lots and lots, like Jelly Tots.

“See you in a minute. See ya, don’t wanna be ya. You see alligator.”

Elliot was seen dabbing his tears away with a tissue as he was overcome by emotion in the clip, but according to him, he wasn’t the only one who was visibly moved.

Reflecting on the special moment during his big day, the groom said: “We’d been planning the wedding for about 12 months. I actually wasn’t nervous as I stood there waiting for Emma.

“I thought ‘Nah, I’ve got this!’ Then I heard Evie’s voice and within moments I was gone. I don’t think I managed to pull myself together until Emma was alongside me.

“I did not stand a chance. But I wasn’t the only one. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house, especially when Evie came down the aisle as one of the flower girls.

“She is such a character and always keeps us on our toes.”

Wedding videographer Owen Bloor, of JOL Videography, captured the heart-warming moment on camera.

He told the BBC: “I can’t believe how crazy it’s gone. I’m so happy for the couple as well, because it’s such a moment that people are going absolutely mental for; it’s lovely.

“Emma, the bride, messaged me a few days before and said, ‘I’d love to do this idea’. The bride knew, the venue knew, I knew, and the photographer knew. I’m not sure about the bridesmaids.

“Elliot was really emotional about it; you can tell in the video. He just says, ‘Nah’, and that’s it.

“He was emotional anyway, and it was such an amazing moment for us to be able to capture; it’s just fantastic.”

Social media users confessed they couldn’t help but cry after watching the clip, too.

One said: “I started bawling as soon as it started.”

While another added: “He stood no chance.”

Barrie Drewitt-Barlow’s family is known by many for being pretty unconventional, but it turns out everything isn’t quite as it seems.

The 54-year-old millionaire shares five children with his ex-husband and business partner, Tony. Fathering twins, Saffron and Aspen, through surrogacy in 1999, the pair were reportedly Britian’s first gay dads.

After the self-made millionaires split, Barrie met Scott, feeling an instant attraction to the lad 23 years his junior.

And when they began dating, people were led to believe he was his Saffron’s ex.

However, on Truly, Scott explained: “I was still kind of that straight lad so I didn’t really have that attraction straight away.”

So, with Barrie feeling an attraction the ‘moment he met him’, the storyline with his daughter came into play.

“When Scott was coming out, he didn’t want to just announce to his parents and everybody that he was gay so between him and Saffron they came up with this plan to say that Saffron was actually his girlfriend,” the multi-millionaire explained.

“He was literally seeing me. It kept our relationship a secret.”

The cover-up was so convincing to some that people would troll the pair with Barrie admitting ‘lots of people think it’s weird’ he would be dating his daughter’s ex.

“But the fact is, she was never his ex,” he added.

Saffron also confirmed she ‘never actually dated’ Scott, saying they were simply ‘just best friends’.

They say the backlash to people believing the ruse was ‘horrendous’, questioning Barrie over ‘how could he go with his daughter’s boyfriend’.

“If he was my daughter’s ex-boyfriend I would still have no qualm whatsoever in sh***ing him,” Barrie joked. “There’d be no problem with that at all – if they’re done, then he’s mind if I want him and that’s it. But the fact is, he never really was.”

Having been together for over a decade now, the pair share two young children together; Valentina and Romeo. Barrie made much of his fortune with Tony through a number of business ventures including a trans-Atlantic surrogacy business.

While Barrie might be targeted by ‘keyboard warriors’, he said he ‘couldn’t give a flying f**k what any of them thought’.

Machine Gun Kelly has appeared to hit back at claims that he is incommunicado with Megan Fox ahead of the birth of their first child.

Just weeks after the pair announced that they were expecting a bundle of joy, it was reported that they had parted ways in late November.

Fans who follow the stars’ relationship have been on quite the rollercoaster ride over the last few years, as they’ve been on and off more times than we care to remember.

MGK proposed to Fox back in 2022, presenting her with a ring which causes physical pain to take off, before they seemingly called time on their romance in February 2023.

Fox deleted all traces of her fella from social media, and later that year, the Jennifer’s Body star, 38, revealed she had suffered a miscarriage when she was just over two months pregnant with the rapper’s child.

However, on Tuesday (28 January), TMZ reported that MGK and Fox ‘aren’t even speaking to each other’ at the moment, claiming that the lines of communication between them are ‘closed’.

Sources told the outlet that due to the ‘icy’ circumstances, it was ‘unclear how involved he will be when the baby comes’, which is expected to be some time in March.

According to TMZ, Fox was ‘done’ with her baby daddy and ‘everyone in her orbit is happy about it’, with the source adding: “They feel like she finally came to her senses by shutting him out of her life.”

However, MGK has seemingly rubbished these claims in a fiery Instagram post shared just hours after the story broke.

Posting a snap of himself sporting a beard while staring out of a window with his huge blackout tattoo on full display, the ‘Twin Flame’ singer said: “How can ‘sources say’ when the sources haven’t said anything.”

MGK’s rhetorical question seemed to suggest that speculation about him and Fox being estranged isn’t exactly accurate.

His famous pals and fans flooded the comment section of his post with support, with US musician Mod Sun writing: “A warrior not a worrier <3.”

The 34-year-old – real name Colson Baker – already shares 15-year-old daughter Casie with his former girlfriend Emma Cannon.

Fox has three children, Noah, 12, Bodhi, 10 and Journey, eight, with her ex-husband Brian Austin Green.
