A woman was reported missing after she set off on a simple trip but ended up 900 miles away due to a GPS glitch.
Getting lost in this digital day and age with the likes of live traffic and navigation apps in our phones is hard to imagine.
However, one wrong turn and a buggy GPS system can quickly become a recipe for disaster, as one woman from Belgium found out the hard way.
Sabine Moreau set off from her Hainault Erquelinnes home to pick up a friend at Gare du Nord in Brussels, less than 90 miles from her house.

It should’ve taken the 67-year-old around two hours or less to drive to the destination, but instead she ended up ‘missing’ for two days.
Due to a GPS error, the woman soared across continental Europe, bypassing five international borders, and ended up 900 miles away in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, before realizing she had taken a wrong turn, or several, at some point.
During her unexpected road trip, she stopped off for gas twice and took sleeping breaks in her car by the side of the road, according to local news reports at the time.
Speaking to El Mundo, Moreau said: “I was distracted, so I kept on the accelerator.
“I saw all kinds of signs, first in French, then in German and finally in Croatian, but I kept driving because I was distracted.”
While Moreau’s friend managed to get home without the lift, her son soon reported her abrupt absence in a missing person’s report to police.

Cops eventually managed to track Moreau down where she claimed she hadn’t even realized she was going the wrong way until she made it to Croatia.
She said: “Until I suddenly appeared in Zagreb and then it dawned on me that I was no longer in Belgium.
“I admit it’s a bit strange, but I was distracted.”
The bizarre tale has caused a stir on Reddit as users say it’s alarming the woman didn’t realize the mistake for so long – or appear to take any notice of the roads.
One comment read: “I don’t understand how someone could be so distracted that they don’t notice a two hour drive turned into a two day drive.”
“I shudder to think I share the road with these people,” another wrote.
A third chimed: “I really wonder how the hell they get their licenses in the first place.”
But others pointed out Belgium has a seemingly relaxed attitude to driving as the country only introduced a compulsory test less than 50 years ago in 1977.
“So it’s quite possible the older drivers you encounter never had to take one,” another user suggested.
Meanwhile, others said they’ve faced similar situations from a GPS flop – but didn’t quite take so long to realize their mistake, rather than taking a 48-hour detour.

Today has been coming for a long time, if you’re a Republican you’ll be delighted but if you’re not then it’s a bitter pill to swallow.
The inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th US President will take place in Washington DC, beginning at 11.30am Eastern Time and around half-an-hour into it the 78-year-old will be sworn in for his second time in charge.
But during the President-elect’s final ‘MAGA’ rally before he is sworn in, he spoke about vote counting computers in Pennsylvania and people on Twitter think he might have incriminated himself and Elon Musk in ‘odd’ confession at the rally.
President-elect Donald Trump came out with a weird statement about vote-counting computers during his final speech before being sworn in as President (NewsMax TV)
Speaking of Musk at the rally, Trump said: “And then he journeyed to Pennslyvania where he spent a month and a half campaigning for me and he’s a popular guy.
“He knows those computers better than anybody. All those computers, those vote-counting computers, and we ended up winning Pennsylvania like in a landslide.
“So, it was pretty good, it was pretty good. So, thank you to Elon.”
Taking to the social media platform, one user posted: “This is called a confession.”
“What an odd thing to say,” another typed.
While a third was shocked at what the soon-to-be president said. They said: “Did he just……..”
With a fourth adding: “Now, Trump suggests that Elon Musk rigged the PA vote-counting computers in his favor.
“Surely the GOP will be demanding a full investigation into Trump and his oligarch wannabe-dictator buddies. Right?”
However, not everyone saw it this way, and suggested that people are grasping at straws.
They tweeted: “I literally just watched it and he never said any of that…”
Elon Musk, who spoke during Trump’s victory rally, apparently knows vote-counting computers better than anybody (NewsMax TV)
While another explained: “‘Depending on which county a resident lives in, they may vote by voting machine, or they may vote with a paper ballot that is scanned in.
“Pennsylvania uses different systems to count mail-in ballots in some parts of the state that are used to count the same-day vote, and every vote in the state leaves a paper trail.’
“Therefore it would be technically impossible to hack voting machines since the paper trail would not match up. Wishful thinking though.”
Could that be all it was? I’m no expert but there’s too much conspiracy around vote-counting in the US, I personally believe Trump won fair and square – as did President Joe Biden in the 2020 elections.
“Now I’m convinced the inauguration will be inside due to protests,” commented one person, and by the outrage his comments have struck on Musk’s own social media platform… moving it indoors might be best.

Can you believe it’s been just over a year since Tesla began rolling out its first batch of Cybertrucks to hungry customers?
The battery electric pickup, initially unveiled by Tesla CEO Elon Musk as a concept vehicle in November 2019, has divided the internet since day one, with some complaining of a ‘poor design’ and expensive charges.
Others however have taken it into their own hands to improve the vehicle, with some building their own homemade version of the car. Another fan has also gone to lengths to get one in the UK, despite it not being road legal yet.
Ahead of its official release in November 2023, Tesla’s chief designer Franz von Holzhausen took his own Cybertruck to a ‘Cars & Coffee’ gathering.
There, automobile enthusiast @dsgolson took some close-up shots of the car and posted them online.
“Please enjoy these detail shots I took of the Cybertruck that Tesla’s chief designer brought to cars and coffee today,” he captioned the series of snaps shared to TikTok.
The first photo showed an all-black Cybertruck parked up – and it genuinely looked like something straight out of a Batman movie.
While impressive from afar, when up close, some people noticed a few snags.
Several photos showed gaps in the car’s panelling on different parts of the vehicle, making it look undeniably unfinished.

It’s important to point out that this vehicle may not necessarily represent the finished models motorheads got their hands on after they released, but that didn’t stop people from weighing in on the car’s quality in the comments at the time.
“How is it that Tesla can’t even get quality control on something that’s not even in production yet?” questioned one person.
“It makes the Nissan Cube look like a work of art,” said another.
A third went on to add: “I really have no idea how their panel gaps are this bad. Like this isn’t a mass produced unit.”
“Is this a college senior design project?” wrote another.

However, others argued that the imperfections proved that the Cybertruck isn’t mass made – which, to them, is a good thing.
“Hey little imperfections means it’s handmade. This is a luxury product guys fr!!” penned one TikToker.
“Personally I love the way it looks,” said another person who defended the truck.
I mean, maybe the gaps are supposed to be there.
UNILAD has previously contacted Tesla for a comment.
