The heir to a pie company fortune who murdered his best friend on Christmas Eve has been sentenced to life in prison for his ‘barbaric and cruel’ crime.
William Bush, 23, was killed by Dylan Thomas, the grandson of pie company tycoon Sir Stanley Thomas, at their home in Cardiff, Wales, on December 24, 2023.
As of 2013, the Thomas’ businessman grandfather had a net worth of around £230,000,000 (over $287,000,000).

Thomas stabbed Bush 37 times using a flick knife and kitchen knife.
During his trial in November 2024, the court heard that Thomas had searched online for the anatomy of the neck before Bush’s murder.
While he admitted to manslaughter, he denied murdering his childhood friend; but jurors took just three hours to find him guilty of murder, BBC News reports.
He has since been sentenced to life imprisonment on Friday (January 24) at Cardiff Crown Court, and ordered to serve a minimum of 19 years.
In a victim impact statement, Bush’s sister Catrin spoke on behalf of herself and her brother Alex — describing her brother’s death as a ‘barbaric crime’.
“Will’s life was taken away from him on December 24, 2023 in the most barbaric and cruel way,” she said.

“Will was innocently getting things sorted to return back to Brecon to spend Christmas with us as a family.
“But instead of Will returning home for dinner on Christmas Eve, it was Dyfed-Powys Police knocking on our door informing us that Will had died.
“I cannot put into words how traumatic and awful this experience was, and I still have intense moments of panic when I think about this.
“Myself and Alex cannot begin to comprehend the fear and suffering that Will endured on that day.
“We are truly haunted from the horror of it and this will live with us forever.”

Thomas was not physically present in court yesterday, as the 24-year-old is is being treated for schizophrenia at Ashworth Hospital in Liverpool.
Instead, he heard his fate via video link.
Despite his mental health condition, the judge who gave Thomas his sentencing said: “I am satisfied that as a result of your schizophrenia, your ability to form a rational judgment was impaired, albeit not the substantial level required to establish the defence of diminished responsibility.”

Erik and Lyle Menendez could be resentenced by a judge and released from prison following a ‘recommendation for resentencing’.
After Monsters, a Netflix true crime-inspired TV show, was released last year, public interest was renewed in the case of the Menendez brothers, whose story was explored in the second season of Ryan Murphy’s wildly successful series.
For those who don’t know, the brothers were found guilty in the 1989 murders of their parents Kitty and Jose Menendez and were sentenced to life in prison after two lengthy trials.

But after potential new evidence was brought to light, which allegedly supports the allegations of abuse the brothers claimed to have been subjected to by their parents , new calls for their sentencing to be reconsidered has been made.
Erik, 53, and Lyle, 56, are serving life in prison without possibility of parole in California.
However, a letter written by Erik in December 1988, which was addressed to his cousin, was found to have detailed the alleged abuse Erik experienced by his father months before the murders took place.
The letter reads: “I’ve been trying to avoid dad. It’s still happening Andy but it’s worse for me now. I never know when it’s going to happen and its driving me crazy. Every night I stay up thinking he might come in.”
The pair has received immense support from several family members, who corroborate strange happenings within the home before the shooting, throughout their incarceration. Additionally, viewers of the controversial Netflix drama and subsequent documentary film have flocked to defend the convicted killers, and ask for a resentencing in light of this new evidence, which could see the brothers immediately released.

But it could also mean that they could be resentenced to a lesser sentence, or no change could be made.
While the appeal was supposed to take place on January 30 and 31, it has been rescheduled to March 20 and 21 because of the Los Angeles wildfires, which have been causing mayhem and tragedy in the area.
At the last court hearing, Joan VanderMolen, the sister of Kitty, told the court that no child should suffer what Erik and Lyle did ‘at the hands of their father’ and said: “I love Erik and Lyle and I want them to come home.”
Terry Baralt, a sister of Jose, said: “Thirty-five years is a long time, I think it is time for them to go home.”
According to the plea to resentence the brothers, all family members except for Milton Andersen, Kitty’s brother, supported the petition.
After the release of Ryan Murphy’s TV show, Erik hit back at the portrayal of Lyle in particular, as well as detailing several inaccuracies which he felt was being shown on screen.
To this, Murphy responded in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, and commented: “Ian [Brennan, co-creator] and I set out to do exactly what we wanted to do. And I’ll tell you my thoughts about the Menendez brothers. The Menendez brothers should be sending me flowers.”

A former Jeopardy! winner has been serving life behind bars after he murdered his wife just years after appearing on the hit TV show.
Paul Curry won a staggering $24,101 after starring in three episodes of the show back in 1989, but just five years later his wife wound up dead.
Curry married Linda Kinkade in 1992 – three years after he appeared on Jeopardy! – but things quickly took a strange turn.
Paul Curry appeared on Jeopardy! in 1989. (ORANGE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT)
It wasn’t long before Curry began pressuring Kinkade into putting his name on all their finances – including the likes of the mortgage and life insurance.
Suspicions over Curry grow among friends
Kinkade’s best friend Merry Seabold recalled a particularly interesting phone call on Oxygen’s true crime series, Charmed To Death.
“Paul’s getting real, real intent on getting everything put into his name,” Kinkade allegedly told Seabold. “The mortgage, the life insurance, 401k….”
Kinkade also told her best pal on the phone that Curry wanted to take out a whopping $1million life insurance policy on her.
This was all part of Curry’s calculated plan.
Later on, she discovered that Curry had a child and two previous marriages. This of course created quite the fuss, so Curry decided to book a cruise to win his wife over.
Passengers on this cruise ship discovered they had Hantavirus, ‘a family of viruses spread mainly by rodents’, according to the CDC.
Kinkade fell ill first before it was passed on to Curry.
Kinkade’s health takes a turn and alarm bells ring
Kinkade’s health worsened, leading to a spell of several weeks in hospital.
She got really sick again on New Year’s Eve and admitted herself to hospital.
Seabold and her husband stayed with Curry at his house during this time, and they discovered something rather alarming – records of Kinkade’s finances and life insurance.
“That’s when I really realized this man is trying to do something to my friend,” she said.

A nurse found a needle puncture in the tubing of Kinkade’s IV days later – something that is now believed to be Curry’s doing.
The case turns cold
In June 1994, Curry wrote to Seabold asking for help, saying that Kinkade was not in a good way.
She was dead the next day, as Curry collected the life insurance policy and Kinkade’s 401K.
It wasn’t until September 2014 when Curry was found guilty of insurance fraud and murder in the first degree with special circumstances.
Curry finally gets caught
Sergeant Yvonne Shull had picked up the case years later in a bid to finally crack it.
As part of her investigation, she spoke with Curry’s first two wives, with one alleging she had also been poisoned – though he has never been charged with a crime relating to this accusation.
And in another twist in the tale, Shull found that Kinkade had tested positive for nicotine the toxicology report, despite the fact she didn’t even smoke.
In fact, horrifyingly she had 50 to 100 times more nicotine than a normal smoker would have in their system.
Authorities confirmed Kinkade died of nicotine poisoning, with investigators believing at the time that Curry placed tobacco in Kinkade’s salad dressing over a lengthy time period.
Police believe he then drugged her before injecting a fatal dose of the drug behind her ear.
Curry will now spend the rest of his days behind bars without parole.

A Wyoming mom is ‘lucky to be alive’ after being offered a ‘poisoned drink’ by a stranger on New Year’s Eve, according to reports.
For many, New Year’s Eve is a boozy night as we celebrate new beginnings and hopefully a better year than the last.
With the drinks flowing, it can be tempting to take a beverage off a stranger, but Kailey Kline’s story should be a stark reminder to never do as such.
She was bringing in the New Year with pals at the Silver Dollar Bar & Grill in Cody when she was handed a drink by a stranger.
KTBX reports less than ten minutes after Kailey, 23, returned home after being picked up by her fiancé, she began experiencing seizures and foaming at the mouth.
The 23-year-old was celebrating at this bar on New Year’s Eve (Google Maps)
The mom was flown to St. Vincent Regional Hospital after her partner called 911, and spent several days there sedated and on a ventilator.
Health experts have concluded Kailey likely consumed antifreeze, a liquid coolant that is typically used in car engines – so certainly something any human shouldn’t be consuming.
Because of the sweet taste, it can be difficult to spot the antifreeze when mixed with a drink.
Kline’s mom told Cowboy State Daily in an interview that her daughter rarely goes out drinking, adding that Kailey is ‘probably too trusting’ of strangers.
Amber Espinoza says her daughter can remember what the man who gave her the drink looked like, though police are yet to identify a suspect.
Officials are continuing their investigations and have confirmed they are currently conducting interviews.
The mom is ‘lucky to be alive’ (GoFundMe)
A GoFundMe has since been set up by Espinoza, where she praised her daughter’s fiancé, Shawn, for being by her side.
“Shawn has been her rock! He’s stayed calm, humble and positive in such a chaotic situation,” she wrote.
“He showed up every day, and spent every visiting hour by her side. He fed and combed her hair when she was too weak to do it herself. He has the patience of a saint! Had it not been for his instincts to call an ambulance, this could have been a very different scenario.”
Thankfully, Kailey has now returned to her nearest and dearest, but she certainly has a long road to recovery.
She is not permitted to drive for three months, while doctors monitor her seizure activity. She will also continue to undergo physical and occupational therapy to aid her recovery.

Fans of the 40-year-old Virgin have been left shocked after finding out that someone from the cast was sentenced to prison for a horrible crime.
This film is one that may have stood the test of time as being a hilarious watch for many.
It’s got it all: romance, awkwardness, sex references, and a full-on live waxing session with bloopers intact.
So, it’s no surprise that the romantic comedy can kept its fanbase since its release in the 2000s.
Not only is the plot fantastic, but you’ve Steve Carell in it. Not to mention Paul Rudd, Kevin Hart and Seth Rogen too.
Shelley Malil played Haziz in The 40-year-old Virgin (Universal Pictures)
The 2005 flick saw Carell portray the nerdy and naive Andy Stitzer who, finally attempts to lose his virginity at the age of 40.
Written by Carell and Judd Apatow, it was an immediate hit at the box office and raked in $177 million against its $26 million budget.
However, many will be saddened to find out that one of the mainstays in the film who provided much-loved comedy was actually later arrested and sentenced to prison.
Do you remember Haziz?
He was one of Carell’s character’s co-workers who had some of the funniest lines on the movie set, and he was very much loved by all who saw the flick.
Unfortunately, when the cameras stopped rolling on Shelley Malil, the actor, he went on to commit a terrible crime against his then-girlfriend.
Kendra Beebe and Malil were dating (Good Morning America)
Malil, who also appeared in Scrubs and NYPD Blue, was sentenced in 2010 to 12 years to life in prison for the premeditated attempted murder on the woman, who he had stabbed 23 times.
While he was released on parole in 2018, the 60-year-old crashed and burned his potential movie star career and traumatized the woman he was supposed to love and protect.
At the time, he had admitted ‘trying to murder’ Kendra Beebe outside her home, while her children were inside which led to her receiving a punctured lung, multiple wounds to her neck, chest, back and arms as well as life-changing injuries to her face.
It is reported that she was attacked with a kitchen knife, and then a broken wine glass which narrowly missed her carotid artery as her children watched on.
The Independent quoted a report by San Diego Union-Tribune in which Halil told the court: “I wasn’t trying to hurt her – I was trying to murder her.”
According to People, Beebe was talking with a friend on her patio when Malil arrived and stabbed her in her torso, with the woman telling Good Morning America: “When I was going to give him a hug, he pulled out his hand and just started stabbing me.”
The former actor said as per a report in the San Diego Union-Tribune, that he had been drinking heavily, and grabbed a knife from his home and drove to Beebe’s house to ‘annihilate’ her because thought he had been slighted by her the day prior to the attack.
Lt. Phil Brust of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement: “Malil and the victim had apparently been in a dating relationship which recently ended.”
Fans who found out about his crimes have been left shocked.
One person wrote: “He did what??!”
Another said: “We did a show together. Saw him at an audition later on. Had some small talk. Last thing he told me before he left was to, ‘Stay positive.'”
Someone else wrote: “I’m surprised they let him out. Doesn’t seem like enough time.”
